William Henry Gudger

William Henry Gudger, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2017. He was a native of Greeneville, TN but was a resident of Rutledge, TN for the past 28 years. He was born to Clinton and Bessie Gudger, who precede him in death along with two sisters Delores and Barbara Jean.

William is survived by his wife Pat of 26 years. She was his life partner and a wonderful caregiver who nurtured him throughout his illness. William was a loving and proud father of his children, Twila (Reginald) Harris and Bill Gudger. He showed the same affection and love to his step-children, Angela Roberts and Chris (Lori) Hodge. He had a special bond with his sunshine, his first grandchild Mackenzie. He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he adored; Tiffany, Tyrah, Faith, Jaxon and Lennox; brothers, Norman (Janice) Gudger and James (Sandy) Gudger , beloved nephew William (Cricket) Barner, and a host of special nieces and nephews. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, uncle and friend to all.

William enjoyed playing, watching and coaching all sports. He also enjoyed home remodeling projects and spending time in the garage. He was an avid UT football fan and attended as many games as his health allowed. He truly enjoyed spending time on the patio enjoying “ good weather”. He was retired from UPS and Grainger County Schools.

William was raised in Friendship Baptist Church, Greeneville, TN and was a member of Rutledge Baptist Church.

A visitation and service was held on Wednesday July 23, 2017 at Smith Reagan Funeral Home, with a graveside service on Thursday, July 24th..

Honorary pallbearers included Lacy “Buster” Jackson, William Barner, Perrish Gudger, Doug Setsor , David Hodge and Friendship Baptist Church deacons.
